Homework is not interesting for anyone. It is not interesting for students who need to complete the actual homework assigned to them. It is not interesting for TESOL teachers who not only assign homework, but also take time to mark homework and give feedback to students. In other words, homework is an important part of the learning process.

Since students spend more time outside the classroom than in the classroom, it is very important for TESOL teachers to consolidate their learning so that they can apply their newly learned English knowledge to their daily life. Three tips for TESOL teachers to set homework:

1. Turn over the homework - instead of teaching your students a part of the textbook and presenting it to them, TESOL teachers might as well ask them to go home and read it as homework. When they come to the next session, TESOL teachers can compare their understanding of the unit and solve or answer any questions at any time. By turning it into class discussion, it highlights any understanding problems and attracts the whole class, transforming them from listeners to active participants.

2. Give them answers - this may sound counterintuitive, but when assigning homework, TESOL teachers will give students answers to questions. This gives them more power to check themselves outside the TESOL class, which means they don't have to wait until the next class to mark the answers and learn from their mistakes. It also frees up more time for TESOL teachers in class, allowing you to focus on important teaching work instead of spending half of your time reviewing answers.

3. Introduce some fun - not all homework must be boring homework with questions and answers. TESOL teachers can bring some fun to your homework by arranging students to watch movies. For example, TESOL teachers will discuss countries and animals in the next lesson and assign them the task of reading the book of the jungle so that they can discuss something in the next lesson. Most people like watching movies. TESOL teachers bring topics to life through interesting homework, which makes students more confident to speak in class rather than listen passively.
