You may be excited when you think of teaching a class of students eager to learn English, but don't forget that you need to find a TESOL job first. Interviews can be nerve wracking for some people, but if you do research and know what will happen, you'll be ready to face a series of questions you're sure to ask.

4 tips for TESOL job interview

1. Prior inquiry - as with any interview, it is important to investigate which school you will teach in. Check with the school or company in advance to understand their expectations for TESOL teachers. It also raises questions in your mind about who you might work for, so write them down so you can ask your potential employer. Pay attention to working conditions, visa requirements, teacher accommodation, etc.

2. Ask questions like employers - one of the biggest mistakes people make in an interview is not asking enough questions to the employer. Although it's a good thing to get this TESOL job and make people think you are a graceful and amiable person as much as possible, you don't want to find that it's not what you think when you find a TESOL job and start working. Make sure you have a list of questions so you can re interview potential employers. Although you want to be the right person for them, they also need to be the right employer for you.

3. Highlight your diversity - you may be asked many questions about your teaching experience. It is important to emphasize what makes your experience different from that of the next person. Although they don't need to know every detail of TESOL's previous work, it's good to highlight the different types of students you have taught in different situations and schools. Increasing your focus on the diversity of your experiences is the key to the interview process.

If you haven't done any formal teaching work, think about your previous leadership role, such as managing the kitchen or waiter in a restaurant. The teaching practices completed during TESOL teaching are also important in this regard because they provide you with real classroom practice.

4 be prepared to show your ability - this is not always the case, but some English schools and companies will ask you to take a TESOL demonstration class. This is probably the worst case, because it can be incredibly daunting to present a lesson in front of the person you're trying to impress. Prepare some TESOL course ideas in advance so that if you are asked to do this, you will be ready.

Job interviews for TESOL can be an interesting process. Be yourself, ask a lot of questions, make sure you're the right person for this TESOL job, this is the right school for you, and you'll be fine. Don't forget that a failed interview should be regarded as an exercise for the next interview!
