It may sound unreasonable that you need money to find a job, but unfortunately, this is the reality of teaching English as a foreign language because you usually need to move to another city or country. In fact, this is not only the case of TESOL teachers, but also any work involving relocation. Even if you have a job before you board the plane, you will have to pay some expenses before you get your first salary.

1. Flight costs

The first cost is the ticket cost for TESOL teachers to fly to any country. Some schools will provide you with compensation for flights or some flights, but usually this means that they will pay for your flights, or 50% when you arrive and 50% when you complete your contract. This is to prevent people from accepting ticket fees and then disappearing on arrival.

2. Visa fee

This is something you need to organize before you leave home. It's unwise to enter a country without a work visa. TESOL teachers' schools should help you organize your work visa application - because it usually involves a lot of paperwork - but they sometimes only provide payment.

3. Accommodation

Even if you have a job, you need to find a place to live when you arrive. Remember, this will mean paying the deposit and the first month's rent. For the sake of safety, calculate the rent for two months. In addition, if you can't find a place to live immediately, you need to pay for the hotel when looking for a house.

Of course, if TESOL teachers want to live in the accommodation provided by the school, you don't have to worry about the rent. However, you should still know whether you are responsible for paying for electricity, heating or Wi Fi.

4. Living expenses

You may be   lucky enough to eat in the school canteen, but even so, you still need to eat when you're not working. The food, cleaning supplies and other household items you need to buy for your house will be borne by yourself.

5. Mobile phone

Organizing a mobile phone and a local number may be the first thing TESOL teachers have to do. You need to buy a SIM card and some talk time!

6. Transportation

No matter where you live, you may have to pay for transportation to and from work. This may be in the form of public transport, or it may be your own car, motorcycle or bicycle.

7. Entertainment

As a TESOL teacher, you may be studying hard, but you may also want to study hard. It's important to have a good work life balance, so you need some cash to pay for the entertainment during the rest time. This can be dining out, shopping, watching movies and, of course, sightseeing.

All this sounds like a lot of money, but if you do the calculation, you should calculate how much money your TESOL teacher needs before working. Then you can focus on saving money so that when you finally start, you don't have to worry about your financial situation, and you can focus on your new life.
